California Schools of Character Announced
Sacramento, CA – February 2008 – The Center
for Youth Citizenship is pleased to announce Marengo Ranch Elementary
and Mulberry School as the 2008 California Schools of Character.
Marengo Ranch Elementary is located in Galt Joint Union Elementary
School District, in Sacramento County. Mulberry School is a private
PreK-5th grade school, located in Los Gatos, in Santa Clara County.

YOUTH ADDRESS THE COURT ON GANG INJUNCTIONS AND FIRST AMENDMENT
ISSUES
January 2008 - The Center for Youth Citizenship is
pleased to announce the culminating competition and showcase events
of the 29th Annual Gordon D. Schaber High School Law Program, a
Law Works Partnership. Over 30 high schools from throughout the
greater Sacramento Region are participating in this year's Law Works
options, including Sacramento Youth Court, Moot Court and Mock
Trial.

YOUTH HELP CREATE RESPECTFUL AND RESPONSIBLE COMMUNITIES
Sacramento, CA – October 25, 2007 – As local and national
leaders struggle to deal with instances of youth violence and gang
crime, students are taking action! Through its various partnerships
and with the help of community leaders, the Center for Youth Citizenship
(CYC) is using its 20+ years of expertise to help youth become more
engaged in the issues facing our region.

Recognition Reception Highlights
Gordon
D. Schaber (GDS) High School Law Program Kickoff Luncheon Highlights
The Gordon D. Schaber (GDS) High School Law Program Kickoff Luncheon
was held on September 21, 2007 at the Embassy Suites in Downtown
Sacramento. The luncheon proved a great success in highlighting
themes of justice, fairness and equity and recognizing members of
the legal community whose support is helping to make character and
good citizenship a part every student’s education and future
success.

TO BE RECOGNIZED FOR BUILDING YOUTH CHARACTER AND GOOD CITIZENSHIP
Sacramento, CA – On September 27, 2007, education and community
leaders will join the Center for Youth Citizenship (CYC) at the
Free to Learn Recognition Reception at the Hyatt Regency in downtown
Sacramento.
The purpose of this special event, being held in the Capitol View
Room on the 15th floor from 4:00 – 7:00pm, is to recognize
and celebrate the hard work and achievements of Sacramento area
elementary schools implementing Free to Learn, a character-based
approach for teaching good citizenship.

26-28, 2007
CYC's Youth Action Leadership Camp offers youth a unique learning
experience with workshops designed to equip youth teams with the
skills needed for everyday citizenship, with special emphasis on
initiating Youth Action Projects.
