As part of the GDS Program, each year, the Center for Youth Citizenship, with help from a broad group of partners in the legal field, creates a unique case topic and materials set for our Moot Court event. Through each unique Moot Court case, CYC seeks to create a powerful learning experience on the rule of law, our courts and judicial system. In addition, CYC works to select timely case topics that will engage youth in current-day, solution-oriented dialogues about issues and challenges that are facing today’s communities.

This year, we are pleased to recognize Amy Pierce for her past contributions to the development of quality moot court cases utilized in the Schaber competition events. Most recently, Ms. Pierce worked on the 2003-2004 Moot Court Case: Moreno vs. State of Birmingham; State Board of Education, which provided students with an opportunity to mark the anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board of education ruling and examine issues of justice, fairness and equity that are still relevant in our schools and communities today.
