JUDGE MORRISON ENGLAND, JR.

Judge Morrison England, Jr., a graduate of UOP McGeorge School of Law, sits on the bench of the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California. He was nominated for the federal court in March 2002 by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate five months later. A football player at the University of the Pacific, England had a tryout with a National Football League team and was an assistant college football coach as a law student. He was a partner in a general practice law firm for 13 years before being appointed by Governor Pete Wilson to the Sacramento Municipal Court. In 1997, he was elevated to the Sacramento Superior Court where he served until his nomination to the federal bench.

Judge England has been a great supporter of many of the Center’s partnerships. In 2007, he participated in the panel of the first Highest Office: Citizen Community Forum, contributing invaluable perspectives. In addition, Judge Morrison has actively supported the LawWorks Partnership, and the GDS High School Law Program in particular.

For his years of service to the youth and the community, we are pleased to present Judge Morrison England, Jr. with this year’s Youth Education & Community Outreach Award.
