About CYC's Annual Community Showcase
The Annual Community Showcase marks the culmination of the yearlong
Reaching Resolution program. This event features student leadership
teams demonstrating their conflict resolution skills in mock mediations
of conflicts that commonly occur at schools. Adult leaders representing
business, education, and the wider Sacramento community serve as
evaluators that provide an assessment of students’ skills
and dialog with students about the “real world” applications
of the skills they have been practicing and using all year long.
The Center for Youth Citizenship presents the Showcase annually
as an event providing area youth with an opportunity to step into
leadership in their schools and communities, and put into real practice
the idea that one citizen can make a difference. Nationally recognized,
CYC’s Showcase is also a model program for other regions throughout
California.
