2007-08 Community Connections Series

All professional development workshops are $40/person and 6:00-8:30pm.
These evening professional development workshops are designed for elementary and secondary teachers, administrators, parents and support staff.

Catalytic Character!
August 23, 2007
Participants will gain understanding of the need for positive modeling of good character for their students. They will practice translating a positive attitude/outlook into positive actions and identify future opportunities for adult modeling of character traits.

Dealing with Difficult People
November 6, 2007
Participants will learn how to communicate effectively with people that are difficult to relate to, whether peers, students or parents. Topics include Conflict Self-Assessment, How We Should Listen, Sources of Communication Difficulties and Effective Messages.

5 Opportunities to Succeed at Sustaining
February 21, 2008
Burnout is something that can happen to anyone. Learn 5 principles for a healthy work and personal life, including: what drains and fills your tank, understanding balance in life, and sustaining a growth mindset daily.

Laws for Youth & Families
June 5, 2008
Gain an introduction to laws that impact youth and their families. Learn strategies for engaging youth in positive activities over the summer that build good citizenship.
