Gain a deeper understanding of the Reading Takes Character Curriculum connections.

Plan for the school year.

Share ideas with and gain ideas from other Free to Learn schools.

Learn instructional strategies to help build character throughout the day.

Gain strategies for motivating students and staff to practice good character.

What Participants Said

I liked how the character traits are related to open court units & reading selections.

Thank you for connecting everything so well and modeling not only character ed but classroom management strategies too!

Your enthusiasm and class management of us (who are difficult) is Awesome!

I appreciated the discussion of challenges and how we can overcome them; sharing ideas that have helped at other sites; and the ideas on how to integrate directly into Open Court.

Outstanding presentation!! I learned how to use this program in my classroom and gained some insight as to how I can introduce the character traits to my school.

I was glad to learn that the program would be so easy to implement into my school day.

TRACKS 2/3
Youth Action! Getting Started for Teachers

Objectives/Outcomes

The Reaching Resolution and LawWorks Partnerships were introduced to CYC’s Youth Action! and learned tools to identify possible topics that would be important for youth to address for a youth action research project in their school and local-communities.

?Participants discussed tools on identifying potential student leaders for the Youth Action Project. Student leaders are not just the straight A & B students that are involved in all the extra curricular activities but students leaders can be those who model and practice some of the core character traits, with potential to gain additional skills that will equip them for effective leadership in their schools and communities.

?Participants had the opportunity to share their perspective on effective partnerships and identifying a community partner.

What Participants Said

I’m looking forward to the Youth Action Leadership Camp!

I think the Youth Action Research Project is going to be great for our students.
