Objectives/Outcomes
Review (1) current challenges facing California’s
schools, including goals for academic achievement and good
citizenship and the rationale for schools’ new equity
commitments; and (2) the concept of “difference”
as an asset and its connection to school climate and culture
and a whole-school approach for good citizenship.
Collaboratively assess the conditions and status of existing
school and organizational climate and culture related to
staff differences and diversity.
Identify individual and staff needs and determine
priorities for coordinated staff actions, student behavior
and parent/school communications.
Learn and select strategies for use in expanding
the value of difference as a school culture asset.
