REGISTER ONLINE TODAY!

Day 1 - October 14, 2008

Morning

Understanding Individual Conflict Styles
Through the use of a personal assessment instrument, participants will gain an understanding of individual conflict styles as well as their unique positive and negative characteristics. Also, training activities will provide participants with the knowledge of how to best approach individuals with differing conflict styles and when it is appropriate to demonstrate each style.

Afternoon Building Respectful Relationships and Collaboration through Effective Communication
This module examines elements that contribute to school site culture and the skills and strategies to address one of them: effective communication. Participants will gain an understanding of the tremendous power of listening and will explore how their own communication style and skills can impact character, strengthen agreements, enable constructive conflict resolution, and further collaboration at their own school sites.

Day 2 - October 15, 2008

Morning Implementing School-Based Conflict Resolution
This module will provide participants with proven strategies for student recruitment, staff orientation, youth trainings, and reporting procedures. Through intensive group discussions, participants will gain strategies that can be immediately transferred to the school-site and will assist in the implementation of a school-based conflict education and service program.
Afternoon

Developing School-Specific Site Plans
Participants will be led through the process of developing site plans tailored to the unique needs of their school-site campus. The site plan will serve as the guiding document to direct the school through the development and implementation of a conflict education and service program, and to assist coordinators in forecasting future program marketing and expansion.
