Participants in this year’s two-day Institute will learn how to integrate character and citizenship education with their school priorities, develop leadership skills, and adopt innovative and research-based strategies for achieving results.

Track 1 - Free to Learn
(1 day - October 14 - Elementary only)

Learn how a whole school approach to character education can effect change at your school site. Gain strategies for integrating character development with your English/Language Arts program. Participants will also learn the importance of positivity, as well as understanding of the connection between teaching character and modeling positive leadership.

Track 2 - Reaching Resolution

(2 days - For Elementary & Secondary Coordinators, Teachers, & Administrators)

CYC has been a leader in school-based conflict resolution for over 20 years. Our training sessions are dynamic and interactive, focused both on individual skill development and on strategic approaches and the “nuts and bolts” for implementing integrated, school-wide models.

Day 1 - Tuesday October 14
Develop the skills needed for running a successful school-based conflict education program. Identify your conflict style and how to effectively respond to others. Increase your understanding of differing values and styles of communication. Learn and practice skills to be an effective listener.

Day 2 - Wednesday October 15
Build on the skills gained in Day 1, and learn the nuts and bolts of implementing a successful school-based conflict education program. Share and dialogue about results that work and develop a plan to help identify new student leaders and training options designed to prepare youth to be ambassadors on school campus, including the Youth Action! Project.
